ABOUT THE FLU

  • The flu usually comes on suddenly. 

  • People who have the flu often feel these symptoms:

    • Fever* or feeling feverish/chills.

    • Cough.

    • Sore throat.

    • Runny or stuffy nose.

    • Muscle or body aches.

    • Headaches.

    • Fatigue (tiredness)

    • Some people may have vomiting and diarrhea,

    • though this is more common in children than adults.

  •  The best way to avoid the flu: get the flu shot.

  • Wash your hands with soap and water thoroughly and often.

  •  Keep an alcohol-based hand sanitizer (gel or wipes) handy at work, home and in your car. It needs to be at least 60% alcohol to be effective.

  •  Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze and throw the tissue out.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

  • Avoid large crowds of people where viruses can spread easily.

  • Keep common surfaces and items clean and disinfected.
